Catalog description
This course will introduce analytical and numerical methods for the mechanics of fracture of materials. Linear elastic fracture mechanics and energy-based methods will be covered along with experimental methods for determining fracture properties. Application of fracture mechanics to fatigue life prediction will also be discussed. Department Managed Prerequisite(s): Graduate level ME 7100 Minimum Grade of C
