Catalog description

Biophotonics and optical imaging concepts. Basic optics, light propagation in tissue, modern microscopy techniques, diagnostic use of lasers (optical biopsies, optical spectroscopy, optical imaging), thermal aspects of light-tissue interaction, therapeutic use of laser (laser ablation, photodynamic therapy, light-activated therapy), novel technologies and applications including optical molecular imaging. Includes microscopy facility tour and small lab experiments. Prerequisite(s): Undergraduate level PHY 2410 Minimum Grade of D and Undergraduate level PHY 2410L Minimum Grade of D
