This course is intended for anyone interested in the dynamic interplay between human psychology and the rapidly changing landscape of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. We will examine how core psychological processes such as perception, cognition, emotion, motivation, and identity influence, interact with, and are influenced by AI-driven systems and innovations. Topics will include human-AI interaction, algorithmic influences on decision-making, and the role of emerging technologies in shaping self-concept, social behaviors, and mental health. Special attention will be given to ethical and societal considerations, including bias in AI systems, digital agency, surveillance, and the psychological impacts of accelerated technological change. Students will also critically evaluate policy and design recommendations aimed at promoting responsible development and use of these technologies, with a focus on equity, transparency, and psychological well-being.
