Cat. II This course introduces the concepts and principles governing the distribution and transport of water in the environment, and also provides a background for quantifying hydrologic processes as required for the development of water resources projects. Topics include the hydrologic cycle, precipitation, evaporation and transpiration, infiltration, runoff analysis, streamflow, hydrologic routing, statistics and probability in hydrology, and the quantification of hydrologic processes for water quality protection. The course introduces field techniques and the use of hydrologic models for solving problems in water resources and hydrology. Recommended background: ES 3004. This course will be offered in 2020-21, and in alternating years thereafter.
