Catalog description

This course emphasizes the development of Spanish-speaking students' ability to use Spanish in a variety of contexts, with a focus on formal speaking and writing. Students will engage in a formal study of the language including appropriate spelling (including the use of accents), development of a more sophisticated vocabulary, verb morphology, syntax and other linguistic topics. Students will study the linguistic and cultural history of the language and the people who speak it in the U.S. and in other countries where Spanish is spoken. Course is taught exclusively in Spanish, and is reserved for Spanish heritage speakers. (CL, CL-A) PREREQ: SPANISH HERITAGE SPEAKER
