Catalog description

This course is designed to prepare students to teach social studies subjects (e.g. history, geography, economics, government), focusing on grades 4-12, with a special emphasis on teaching younger students. Students will develop a vision of what constitutes high-quality teaching in social studies, as well as build skills for planning high-quality lessons and curricula. In addition, other important aspects of teaching will be addressed, including classroom management and discipline, techniques for engaging all students in the heterogeneous classroom, and the use of technology to support instructional activities. PREREQ: PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION ADMISSION COREQ: CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT IN SECNDED 340 AND SECNDED 425
