Catalog description

This course is designed for music majors and minors who need background in music theory and jazz. In this course, you will learn how jazz works. You will become familiar with the basic rhythmic, harmonic, melodic and formal conventions of jazz. You will also learn the basic scale, key and chord theory, which is applicable to all Western music. You should leave this course with an understanding of how chords and scales work and the ability to manipulate them in real time. PREREQ: MUSC 152 OR INSTRUCTOR CONSENT
