Catalog description

This course explores the history of rock music in America as a lens into race and ethnicity. It also uses the study of rock to teach methods of historical practice. Topics will include slave musical traditions, 19th century European ethnic and African-influenced music, the blues, jazz and modern rock. (SBS, SBS-E) PREREQ: SOPHOMORE STANDING OR CONSENT OF INSTRUCTOR
