Catalog description

This class will provide an overview of Japanese history: the political changes, social structures, and cross-cultural interactions over the past two millennia. Using primary source documents, we will explore the creation of the royal court system, the rise of the warrior class, interactions with other Asian and Western countries, the rise and fall of the Japanese Empire in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and Japan's "economic miracle".
