This course provides students with an understanding of the American city from a geographic, sociological and historical perspective. The course emphasizes the spatial form of American cities, but within the framework of a comparative global perspective. The particular forces that produced the spatial form of the American city, and the consequences of these geographic patterns, as well as the connections between the economic, political, and cultural aspects of urban growth and development are highlighted.(HA, HA-G) PREREQ: MINIMUM SOPHOMORE STANDING OR INSTRUCTOR CONSENT
