INTRODUCTION TO SUSTAINABILITY
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater · UGRD · Fall 2026
1 section
Catalog description
“Sustainability” is the new mantra for communities, nations, and companies around the world. The elusive term means many things to many people, but what’s at its heart? And should we be striving to achieve it? In this course, we’ll explore the history and origins of the term, how it’s used within academia, governments, and corporations and sort the “greenwashing” from actual structural change. Along the way, we’ll explore practical attempts to achieve sustainability and undertake an audit of our own. (NSW, NSW-N) PREREQ: (C OR BETTER IN MATH 41 ) OR (PLACEMENT INTO MATH 139 OR HIGHER)
