Catalog description
American literary magazines have played a central role in shaping the nation’s literary identity, serving as chronicles of aesthetic positioning and cultural evolution. This course will cover this vibrant history, focusing on magazines of the modernist period through the contemporary magazines of today. Students will both read and research magazines from the modernist, post-war, and contemporary periods and engage with the practical dimensions of magazine culture as they develop their own editorial vision and aesthetic to curate and design a literary publication of their own. PREREQ: ENGLISH 102 OR ENGLISH 105
