University of Wisconsin-Whitewater · UGRD · Fall 2026
1 section
Catalog description
In the public imagination, the American Midwest has not evolved far beyond the heartland laborers and hardscrabble immigrants. This course looks past these over-simplifications through a number of cultural productions including literature, art, film, music, and television that both confirm and challenge conventional understandings of Midwestern places, boundaries, and experiences.
