INCLUSIVE AND EQUITABLE EDUCATION

Catalog description

The goal of this course is to prepare teachers with pedagogical and curricular approaches that can help them create inclusive and equitable educational experiences for students. The course explores historically-grounded research-based approaches to culturally relevant and inclusive classroom practices. Teacher candidates will study the history and social implications of forms of discrimination (e.g. ableism, sexism, racism). Teacher candidates will study the history, culture, and tribal sovereignty of American Indian tribes and bands located in Wisconsin. Teacher candidates will study the history and laws associated with supporting students with disabilities.
