Catalog description

This course examines legal frameworks governing special education and pupil services in educational settings. Topics include Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Participants analyze case law, statutes, and regulations related to student rights, accommodations, and disciplinary procedures. Emphasis is placed on understanding the intersection of law and practice in providing equitable educational opportunities for students with disabilities. Through case studies and simulations, participants develop skills in navigating legal complexities, ensuring compliance, and advocating for inclusive practices.
