APPRAISAL PROCEDURES IN COUNSELING

Catalog description
This course provides an understanding of individual and group approaches to assessment and evaluation in a multicultural society. It will examine basic concepts of standardized and non-standardized testing and other assessment methods for appraising individual differences and family dynamics. Students will examine statistical concepts relevant to assessment (scales of measurement, measures of central tendency, variability, and reliability and validity). Discussions and laboratory experiences will center on the use and interpretation of standardized and non standardized measures of appraisal with individuals, groups and families and the social, cultural and ethical factors relevant to the assessment process. PREREQ: ADMISSION TO MS COUNSELING PROGRAM OR CONSENT OF INSTRUCTOR
