Catalog description

This course will present counseling approaches that effectively address crises across counseling settings. Students will reflect on how people deal with crises, learn prevention measures, and develop skills in psychological first aid with specific intervention techniques. Examples of situations to be explored include suicide, homicide, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, natural disasters and terrorism, school safety, and personal loss. PREREQ: ADMISSION TO PROGRAM OR CERTIFICATE PROGRAM, OR CONSENT OF INSTRUCTOR
