Study of late nineteenth- and twentieth-century techniques, including sonata and rondo forms and vocal music. Topics include Neapolitan and augmented sixth chords, extended tonicization, extended tertian harmony, impressionism, rhythmic innovations, post-tonal theory, and introductory set analysis.
