Catalog description
A study of the skills and knowledge necessary to successfully manage and teach instrumental ensembles in grades six through twelve: instructional planning, lesson development/implementation, cross-disciplinary skills, particular student needs at different grade levels, rehearsal techniques, individual/ensemble assessment, classroom management, and curricular/program development. This course will also feature a brief survey of band and orchestral repertoire with an emphasis on literature appropriate for sixth through twelfth grade band and orchestra ensembles. Pre-Student Teaching Clinical Experience required.
