Catalog description

This course introduces the study of criminal victimization in the United States, examining its causes, consequences, and societal responses. Topics include the history of victimology, theories of victimization, the victims’ rights movement, and a range of victim experiences such as intimate partner violence, homicide, wrongful conviction, and systemic harms. Students will connect theory and research to contemporary debates about justice, policy, and prevention.
