Catalog description

Overview of major factors affecting forest ecosystems including disturbance, species interactions, succession, climate change, timber harvesting/resource extraction practices, and ecosystem management strategies. Emphasis on forests of the western Great Lakes Region. Field activities develop identification and data collection skills and are integrated with a semester-long research project designed to evaluate predictions of a specific ecological hypothesis. (Lecture three hours, laboratory three hours).
