PLE 420
Transport Phenomena for Plastics Engineers
University of Wisconsin-Stout · UGRD · Fall 2026
1 section
Catalog description
Fluid dynamics and heat transfer applied to plastics processing. Plastic flow behavior as a non-Newtonian fluid with shear heating. Effects of operating conditions and mold/die design on filling behavior, cooling rates, and part characteristics. Finite difference and iterative calculations employed with comparison to fluid flow simulation software. Prerequisites: take ENGR-275 , ENGR 391 , and PLE-340 or concurrent enrollment
