Catalog description

Chemical synthesis and modifications of biological macromolecules (proteins, nucleic acids, and oligosaccharides), including incorporation of unnatural amino acids and RNA/DNA bases. Chemical methods for investigation of biological functions of these substances. Biosynthesis, metabolism, and physiological functions of endogenous small molecules (polyketides, terpenes, prostaglandins, steroids). Introduction to modern drug discovery. Prerequisite: take CHEM-310 or CHEM-311 or ( CHEM-201 and BIO-136 ).
