Catalog description

Lecture, projects, and field experiences relating to black bear ecology and management. Topics covered are based on student interest, but may include field techniques for working with bears, bear morphology, behavior, physiology, diet, mortality, denning, harvest structure and methods, regional management, human-bear conflict, and importance of bears to human cultures. Special focus is placed on the state of Wisconsin. A weekend workshop is required at Treehaven. Available for undergraduate credit as WLDL 308.
