Emerging Issues with Children and Families

Catalog description
Social work practice with diverse family systems. Concepts, theories, ethical considerations, evidence-based interventions, knowledge and skill development with children, adolescents, caregivers, and family systems. Interventions through all stages of change including preparation for change, separation and loss, the changed family system, and adolescents transitioning into independent living. Focus on various family types including adoptive, foster care, kinship, extended, single parent, multi-generational, and other diverse families. Emphasis on strengths-based and family-centered approaches. This course is part of a service-based pricing program. Special tuition will apply for students enrolling in this course.
