Advanced Practice in Child Welfare

Catalog description

Advanced social work practice in public, private and tribal child welfare settings. Conceptual and practice skills needed including assessment methods and tools, risk and resource assessment, identification of evidence of child maltreatment, case planning and intervention models. The role of diversity in service delivery, with a focus on issues of racial disproportionality and disparity in child welfare. Examination of related topics including supervision and collaborative work with other systems and services including schools, courts, mental health, disability, and substance abuse. This course is part of a service-based pricing program. Special tuition will apply for students enrolling in this course.
