Educational Psychology

Catalog description

This course studies child and adolescent development through the psychological principles of teaching and learning. It will focus on understanding the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of children and adolescents. Emphasis will be placed on the nature and conditions of learning, including the major types of learning, critical aspects of learning, and any problems that may be encountered when working as a professional educator in a school setting. Important legislation that governs education will be discussed with a focus on increased accountability for teachers and its impact on the assessment process. Prerequisite: A grade of C- or better in UWX PS101 or consent of instructor.
