Catalog description

This course focuses on methods for motivating and engaging the middle and high school level Social Studies and Science learners. A focus will be on techniques for classroom set up, building community, techniques for managing the classroom, routines and protocols, setting high expectations for learning, and creating meaningful and relevant Social Studies & Science lessons that connect to students' lives and interests. Designing and teaching motivating and engaging Science and Social Studies lessons in a practicum experience will bridge practice with theory. Field Experience required (25 hours). Prerequisites: This course is a portion of the high school Social Studies and Science methods blocks. Concurrent enrollment in TED 463 & TED 433 for Social Studies candidates and, TED 462, and TED for Science candidates. Admission to Teacher Ed or EPP admission Tier II. (F)
