Catalog description

This course provides a thorough analysis of the knowledge base, and current practice in middle/secondary school literacy in the social studies classroom. Emphasis is on curriculum integration, current technology and literacy strategies, and supports for language demands to enable students to become independent learners. Special emphasis is on individual differences among readers, as well as the social and political implications of global literacy perspectives. Field Experience required (25 hours). Prerequisites: This course is a portion of the high school social studies methods block. Concurrent enrollment in TED 433 and TED 468. Admission to TED or EPP admission Tier II. (F)
