Interconnectedness and Differentiation of Early Childhood Learning

Catalog description

This course will focus on differentiating instruction for early childhood learners through engaging students in inquiry learning and meeting individual learning needs through choice and adaptation. Strategies will be explored to help students ask purposeful questions and seek answers through explorations that integrate science and social studies with literature, the arts and technology. Specific attention will be paid to developing observation skills and encouraging higher order thinking skills, discourse and problem-focused collaborative learning. A course emphasis will also be on modification of the classroom environment, materials and instruction to meet children’s individual needs. A specific focus on preschool/prekindergarten learners and specific preschool field experience is required. Prerequisites: pre or co-requisite SPED 330 and TED 301. (F, Sp, SS, W)
