Catalog description

This course prepares students with the skills needed for the successful administration of early childhood programs, including a focus on: collaborative leadership, effective communication skills needed to establish and operate an early childhood program, state and national trends in early childhood. Students will also learn to identify and apply leadership qualities needed to hire and manage staff, support parents and families, and oversee the daily operations of an early childhood program including licensing, marketing, networking, personnel supervision and training, and advocacy. They will also study effective guidance techniques for supporting the growth and socialization of young children as well as communication and advocacy skills for supporting families and staff.
