Catalog description

This course will examine the parent/child/caregiver (family) relationship and explore the roles of each in the overall development of young children. This course examines parent involvement, family education models, cultural responsivness, anti-bias perspectives and diversity among families, communities, and child rearing practices as well as effective home-school-community relationships, the rights and responsibilities of parents and children and resources for home-school programs. This course will also examine trends in family structure/patterns, effective communication strategies and the promotion of reciprocal relationships with families and communities. Materials fee required.(F, Sp).
