Literacy 2: Instructional Methods for Intermediate Readers and Writers

Catalog description
This course provides an introduction to literacy teaching and learning for diverse intermediate/adolescent learners. Emphasis will be placed on exploring the literacy skills and strategies essential to these readers and writers (phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and composition). Teacher candidates will build on their understanding of the developmental literacy continuum to plan, modify, and implement literacy lessons and teaching strategies in classrooms within a field experience. Field experience required: (50 hours). Prerequisites: Concurrent enrollment in TED 312 and TED 315 is required. Prerequisites: Admission to Tier 2 or departmental consent. (F, Sp)
