Catalog description

This course will prepare teacher candidates to develop the essential knowledge and confidence in teaching social studies within the PreK-9 setting. Teacher candidates will construct an understanding of the concepts, values, and skills that define the discipline. Teacher candidates will advance in their knowledge by demonstrating teaching methods for authentic instruction in social studies including the implementation of culturally responsive teaching and reflective practice in social studies taught in a PreK-9 field experience. Field experience required: (50 hours). Concurrent enrollment in TED 314 and TED 318 is required. Prerequisite: Admission to Tier 2 or departmental consent. (F, Sp)
