Catalog description

The purpose of this course is to develop understanding, knowledge and confidence in teaching language arts within the elementary/middle school setting, grades K-8. Students will develop an understanding of the theories, methods, and practices utilized to develop relevant and effective reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills with elementary aged children. Students will advance in knowledge and demonstration of teaching skills and methods for successful, authentic student instruction in language arts and experience the development, implementation, assessment, and reflection of engaging English Language Arts lessons for use within K-8 classrooms. Field experience required: (50 hours). Concurrent enrollment in TED 311 and 316 is required.
