Catalog description

Course participants will explore developmental theories and practice using them as a lens to interpret observed behaviors and plan appropriate learning experiences in the physical, affective and cognitive domains for young children aged birth-8, with specific focus on birth through 35 months. Curriculum planning and an incorporated field study will focus on infant/toddlers with practice in planning care and play learning activities in response to identified learning needs. The course will also provide an opportunity to explore patterns of interaction between adults and children, health and safety standards, social-cultural differences and evaluation of infant/toddler program models. Field experience in an infant/toddler setting required. (12-15 h)
