Foundations of Diversity and Equity in Education (d)

Catalog description

This course is designed to provide students with an opportunity to gain a meaningful understanding of diversity and equity in education. Students will study the effects and influence of multiple forms of diversity in American education and current affairs that influence the educational decisions as they relate to diversity and equity in education. The topics of diversity include ethnicity and race, gender, SES, religion, exceptionality, and language. All topics will be studied within the context of history, differing philosophies, and various theories and practices of diversity and equity in education in the United States. This course meets WI DPI statute PI 34.002 (a-f) and the Human Relations requirement. Field Experience: Lab experience (participation in the Falcon Tutors Program required) Prerequisites: Tier I admission or AGED 201 or CSD 275 (F, Sp)
