Catalog description

This survey course in Multicultural Theatre and Film in America will utilize the study of theatre scripts, feature films, documentaries, and related cultural and historical resources produced and presented by people of color. This course will provide students with multiple opportunities to experience, research, discuss, understand, and value African American, Latinx American, and Native American lived experiences, shared stories, aesthetic traditions, and artistic expressions created for both stage and screen from 1960 to the present. The course will also explore social and cultural factors reflected in these plays and films and examine the individuals and institutions that produce these works. (F, SP, SS, W)
