Peer Mentoring

Catalog description
This course is designed to train psychology and neuroscience majors to implement peer mentoring services to first-year students in the psychology department. Students will be trained in and practice basic helping skills; review literature related to student retention; provide peer mentoring services; work with other peer mentors in developing activities and programs designed to encourage participation in the department and university; administer aspects of the peer mentoring program; and investigate research ideas related to student retention. Prerequisites: Sophomore status, completed 15 credits in the Dept. of Psychology, and permission of instructor. (F)
