Early Childhood Literacy Foundations

Catalog description

This course prepares students to support the language and literacy development of 2 1/2 to 6 year old children in a Montessori classroom environment. The student will explore the continuity of learning experiences for the young child through the preparation of developmentally appropriate sequentially prepared exercises. Students will also gain knowledge of a broad repertoire of language teaching and support strategies using manipulative materials and picture books in a rich context of spoken and written language. Prerequisite: MONT 500, or permission of instructor (F).
