Catalog description

This course teaches developmentally appropriate instruction and accommodations for children with special needs in Montessori environments. Throughout this course, students will focus on assessment, partnering with families and SPED teams, characteristics of exceptionalities, intervention and accommodation strategies, special education law, suitable materials, and inclusion of children with disabilities in Montessori early childhood elementary settings. This course will include content specific to meeting federal and state special education requirements for teacher licensure, RTI and intervention processes and progress monitoring.
