Catalog description

This course will assist prospective middle school math teachers to develop appropriate pedagogical content knowledge to teach middle level mathematics. Topics will be chosen from the areas of modeling, number system, expressions & equations, ratios & proportions, geometry, functions, and statistics & probability. There will be a focus on tasks and activities that will reflect the recommendations presented in the Common Core State Standards and NCTM Standards. The Standards for Mathematical Practice will be emphasized throughout the course. Prerequisite: This course is a portion of the middle school mathematics block and completion of TED 211/212 or TED 250. Concurrent enrollment in TED 458 and TED 457. (F)
