Catalog description
This course examines armed conflict and transitions towards peace as gendered phenomena. Students will engage in readings on how gender figures in the causes of war and peace; the barriers to promoting and protecting gender rights during war and how the barriers may be overcome; and the global movements to incorporate gender rights more fully in post-conflict reconstruction policies. Students will gain awareness and understanding of the continuum of violence that women and girls experience in the public and private spheres
