Catalog description

This course surveys the development of major Asian civilizations from the per-historical period to the present. As a broad coverage of Asian history, it focuses on the rise of ancient Indian and Chinese civilizations, development of Buddhism, Confucianism, Daoism, and Islam, contacts between the West and Asia in modern time, and the transformation of Asian societies in the age of imperialism and globalization.
