The course provides a general overview of U.S. history through a series of problems or themes such as development of democracy, ethnicity, industrialization, class, urbanization, and issues involving race, and gender. The course provides students with an understanding of the basic ideas, concepts, and chronology of U.S. history as well as an introduction to historical methodology. (F, Sp)
