Catalog description
This course covers design of basic machine components, permanent and removable fasteners, springs, columns, shafts, and frames. Fatigue, deflection, loading, selection and specification of materials in the design of machine parts are also covered. Power-train components are also included, such as bearings, couplers, gears, and belt and chain drive systems. Prerequisites: PHYS 121 or 131, MATH 156 or 166. (Sp)
