Catalog description

This course begins with a study of standards, calibration, error and the measurement process. Analog and digital signals, signal conditioning, and data acquisition are then discussed. The course then covers measurement of displacement, stress (strain), force, torque, pressure, flow, and temperature. The Controller Area Network (CAN) and ISO-11783 bus communication protocols, as well as LabVIEW are also introduced. Prerequisites: PHYS 121 OR 131, MATH 156 OR 166
