Chemical Fate and Transport in the Environment

Catalog description

The course provides students with the opportunity to apply general chemical and physical principles to the fate and transport of contaminants in environmental systems. It focuses on the study of the physical and chemical behavior of environmental contaminants and the governing principles of contaminant migration. The course also presents information about primary sources of contamination and discusses the impacts of contaminants on major environmental media, such as surface waters, ground waters, soil and the atmosphere, and human health. Prerequisites: ESM 105 and (CHEM 112 or 122) and (BIOL 100 or 150) and (Math 147 or 166) or consent of instructor. (F)
