Forest Restoration and Management

Catalog description

This course examines the art and science that underlie our attempts to restore degraded forests to a desired condition. A variety of qualitative and quantitative tools will be used to evaluate forests to make informed restoration decisions. The focus will be on temperate forest types at the stand level. The course is designed to equip students with a critical perspective and quantitative tools to implement forest restoration. Although the class focuses on the science of restoration, policy will be considered. Prerequisites: ESM 109 and ESM 245; or consent of instructor. (Sp)
