International Experience in Resilience Planning

Catalog description

This course prepares students to understand foundations of Resilience Planning for communities facing natural hazards, particularly those related to climate change. Countries around the world are developing strategies to reduce vulnerabilities to natural hazards across the social, economic, and environmental spectrum. These strategies can be adapted to the United States and inform more effective resilience planning in our communities. It fulfills the Global Perspectives general education requirement as students will learn how cultural and political differences affect resilience planning and how lessons from destination countries can be applied in the context of US communities.
